Finding Your Niche: Building a Successful Company in Pittsburgh

The Pittsburgh Venture Capital Association's Emerging Leadership Board is proud to present a special evening program featuring a conversation with Luke Skurman, Founder CEO of Niche.com and a recognized thought leader of Pittsburgh's innovation ecosystem.

A San Francisco native, Luke came to Pittsburgh 15 years ago to pursue his bachelors and masters degrees from Carnegie Mellon, and never left. Today, Luke wears multiple professional and civic hats, all of which reflect a deep commitment to bolstering innovation and entrepreneurship in Pittsburgh.

We encourage you to join us at Ascender on April 12th, to hear Luke's compelling presentation detailing his entrepreneurial journey as the CEO of an early stage company in Pittsburgh. In talking about his Pittsburgh experience, Luke will offer candid insights concerning the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats within the local innovation ecosystem.

Within this context, Luke will touch on his role on Carnegie Mellon University's Board of Trustees, and the vision behind Ascender and the Thrival Innovation and Music Festival (which he helped co-found).

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations received via email at least 3 business days from the event will be granted a refund, less a 20% administrative fee. Cancellations received after the cut-off date (3 days prior to) are not eligible for a refund. However, registrations can be transferred without penalty to another representative from the same company for the same event, with advanced notification to organizers. If the replacement representative is not a member of the association, the firm will be responsible to pay the difference between the member vs. non-member rate (this will vary depending on the event).

Picture/Video Policy: Registration implies consent that any pictures or video taken during the event can be used for promotional purposes. The PVCA is able to use your likeness without remuneration.
